Ambubachi Mela Plastic free and to maintain utmost cleanliness
Guwahati, June 14 (HS): Dy. Commissioner Kamrup Metro appealed for not to use plastic this year’s Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple. In a meeting today at Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office Kamrup (M) D.C. Virendra Mittal appealed Food and Water Suppliers (Bhandara) from various voluntary organizations will engaged at camps to be erected to keep pilgrims not to use any kind of plastic items and make this mela as plastic free Ambubachi Mela. Instead of using plastic plate, cup, spoon etc. he appealed to use biodegradable one. In presence of more than Two hundred workers of various voluntary organizations to be serve pilgrims. D.C. Mittal appealed to maintain utmost health and hygiene of the cook to be employed for preparation of foods for the pilgrims. He also said to maintain proper disposal mechanism for the leftover food items and to maintain cleanliness in each camp. D.C. Mittal also emphasised to maintain discipline in the camp, so that the massage can be spread all over India. He also said the Bhandaras to keep sufficient water in the camps and also for the public. He also asked Bhandaras to visit various camps by Sunday. D.C. appealed all camp to work as a team to make this mela a grand success. He repeatedly emphasised to maintain cleanliness in every sphere of the mela and to keep Guwahati clean. He also announced that a team will be constituted which will visit every camp and award will be given to a Bhandara who will maintain utmost cleanliness and discipline. In this meeting the Addl. Deputy Commissioners P. Mahnata, N. Pathank, G. Kashyap and P. P. Kathkatia asked Bhandaras to maintain the guidelines. Food Safety officer S. Baruah also gave the relevant instructions to the food suppliers in the mela. The Ambubachi Mela will be held from 22nd June to 25th June. Hindusthan Samachar/ Arvind \
